With his “acoustic ambient ensemble,” Pascal Klewer continues to develop his work at the intersection of compositional research, improvised structure, and emotional repetition. At the core are repeatable musical cells—as a collective practice, as a space for perception, development, and reflection on form.
These process-focused cells are and were part of a process that began at the Tarabya Cultural Academy (2025) (solo organ), transitioned into a four-day Deutschlandfunk production (Fall 25), and is now being further explored in Cologne with an outstanding ensemble of musicians from the improvised and contemporary scenes.
Pascal Klewer is a composer and trumpeter and has curated, among other things, the 222 Festival, the label stssts records, and the series monday meetings (co-curator). He has led the WDR Big Band, among others, written music for numerous films on ARD, is a fellow of the Tarabya Cultural Academy, the Kunststiftung NRW, and the Bartels Foundation, has been awarded the Composition Prize of the Bundesjazzorchester and the New German Jazz Prize, and is a lecturer in composition/arrangement and trumpet at the HMTM Hannover.
