Singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter keiyaA weaves a sonic world that is entirely her own. Drawing on influences from R&B, jazz, electronic music, and soul, her voice glides over slippery funk bass lines, a pools of synth and reverb, and samples of Black cultural milestones.
Her second album, hooke’s law, emerged from a personally challenging period marked by life’s most daunting questions, countless hours of video gaming, and the numbing effects of doomscrolling. Sonically, the influence of these virtual worlds, together with the emotional work of embracing discomfort and multivalence, have become essential components of both the album and keiyaA’s distinctive musical language.
