Anushka Chkheidze & Peter Evans

together with keiyaA

Anyone interested in learning more about the work and creative output of Georgian-born computer musician and sound artist Anushka Chkeidze should check out her sound installation “Lost Lullaby” for “The Sound” at the Monheim Triennale. For this project, she asked residents of Monheim about their favorite children’s songs and turned them into a polyphonic hymn. Or, for “The Prequel” the following year, she rehearsed one of her compositions with the Monheim Bunte Chor. And for “The Festival,” she sat down at the organ of the Alstadtkirche with her laptop and orgamats to design “Intricate Pipes” as a fascinating piece of sound architecture. New York trumpeter Peter Evans was also a “Signature Artist” at the Monheim Triennale, where he and Chkeidze met. The (solo) trumpeter Evans also demonstrated his aesthetic and technical parameters there. With the help of extended playing techniques, he has developed a sonic repertoire that captivates and impresses not only through its motivic-thematic development but also through the intensive use of multiphonics, circular breathing, and split tones.
