Listening is a small-scale utopia: spending an hour without trying to categorize anything, simply taking in what emerges. Three musicians fulfill this promise at this lunchtime concert during Cologne Jazzweek: Luise Volkmann, Athina Kontou, and Museum of No Art.
They’ve performed side by side on different stages in Marburg before. Volkmann and Kontou, both from Cologne, with their project “Mother,” and Mona Steinwidder aka Museum of No Art from Hamburg just a few streets away. Now, at Cologne’s Antoniterkirche, their musical languages truly converge for the first time: punk and new music, Greek musical culture and contemporary jazz, dreamlike, electronically grounded textures.
