Since 2013, the Subway Jazz Orchestra has been enriching the German big band scene with varied and impressive programs. The concerts at their home club, Club Subway, are known for being intense and unforgettable musical experiences—characterized by powerful orchestral sounds, energetic solos, and a rousing audience. Over the past twelve years, the band has played over 100 concerts, performing more than 1,000 compositions and arrangements.
As part of Cologne Jazz Week 2025, the SJO will present a Jazz Week Special at Club Subway with carefully curated works penned by the band’s composers and selected international guests. The pieces are tailor-made for the orchestra’s outstanding soloists and, in keeping with SJO tradition, will be performed in a direct club atmosphere. The program includes works by Guillermo Klein and Maria Schneider, as well as fresh arrangements by Cologne composers such as Jorik Bergmann, Claudia Döffinger, Johannes Ludwig, and Stefan Karl Schmid.
Contemporary big band music at the highest level—played with thrilling enthusiasm and collective energy. Be there!
