MOCH is the name of a duo featuring vibraphonist and marimba player Patricia Brennan and percussionist, drummer and turntablist Noel Brennan aka Arktureye. The name of their duo is a word from the indigenous Nahuatl language of their native Mexico and means ‘all, everything’. Both now live in Brooklyn, New York, where they have made a name for themselves as improvisation artists on the border between jazz, new music and sonic art. For their idiosyncratic sound, they draw on this multitude of musical influences and experiment intensively with their acoustic and electronic instrumentation to achieve a symbiosis of analogue percussion and digital sound processing. To achieve this, the Brennans concentrate on the common flow in the creative process of improvisation and thus explore the sound space as a laboratory for unusual aesthetic concepts.
For the second half of the concert they have invited international artists Trevor Dunn on bass and Alexander Hawkins on piano.
