The Leslie loudspeaker is actually known from the Hammond B3 organ. There it ensures that the sound of this electric organ is given a slight vibrato by the rotating sound emitters. This Doppler effect is also used by the Berlin-based Australian guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Oren Ambarchi when he plays together with the two Swedes Johan Berthling (bass) and Andreas Werliin (drums) as the trio Ghosted. He has already processed and alienated the sound of his guitar with all kinds of devices from the digital kit. But Ambarchi then sends this sound hybrid through a Leslie speaker, which emphasizes its fragility and fragility and reinforces the contrast to the stability of the often repetitive, dense patterns of Berthling and Werliin. You have to listen carefully to hear changes in the sound and changes of direction in the flow of the music. But this is precisely what creates the tension in the interplay between these three musicians.
