When it comes to straight-ahead, swinging mainstream jazz, pianist Martin Sasse, guitarist Joachim Schönecker and double bassist Marcus Schieferdecker are not to be fooled. What all three have in common is that they have found their way in playing classical jazz, always searching for the aesthetically new in a familiar setting. With their percussion-less trio, a lineup made famous by Nat King Cole, Sasse, Schönecker and Schiederdecker celebrate chamber music in jazz, just as the greats of this genre before them, an Oscar Peterson as well as a Ron Carter, have done. Every phrase has a casual swinging elegance and in intuitive interplay the three prepare a harmonic bed for their mainstream jazz with tonal nonchalance.
