Samora Pinderhughes, born and raised near San Francisco in California, is a composer, pianist, filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist. His works impress with an unprecedented intimacy and carefully crafted, radically honest lyrics. In his audiovisual work, Pinderhughes combines compositions of his own music with eye-catching images, most of which deal with socio-political issues. He sees himself in the tradition of African-American surrealists who bent words, sounds and images to revolution. Pinderhughes is also a sought after sideman and cooperation partner for numerous musicians of his generation – such as Robert Glasper, Karriem Riggins, Common aka August Greene, Burniss Travis, Christian Scott and his sister, the singer and flutist Elena Pinderhughes.
