Jamie Peet & Niels Broos

Niels Broos (keyboards) and Jamie Peet (drums) from the Netherlands already have a distinctive sound and style despite their young age. The two nonchalantly fuse jazz with hip-hop and electronics. They first performed as a duo at the Mondriaan Jazz Festival in 2017, and since then have been heard at many other festivals with their unusual style clash – such as the Transition Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, and the New York Winter Jazzfest. Their music is improvised, but has some surprising melodic and rhythmic anchor points. The basis is analog, but with digital frictions tension builds up in the flow of the creative process, which suddenly discharges with sparking energy.
